Ken, a young Japanese guy, is in love with a young Korean girl, Yumin. He followed her in Korea and wants to become a policeman just like her. But then, he finds himself at the head of a local gang. What will happen to Ken?

Story: The story was excellent. It had many things I like about it, the comedy was funny, the character development was smooth, the plot was executed very thoughtfully in that universe, The progression was rather fast but since this is action based it is understandable. The story is very immersive as there are so many things that help drive the story.

Good manga just don't expect a good ending.

Yumin is a badass daughter of a Yakuza Boss, who moves to Korea to get away from her clan and become an officer. She is incredibly beautiful and believes Ken when he says he has moved to Korea to work for a video game company. He hits her up every once in awhile and they go on dates. She's met him in Japan before but doesn't know him very well. He always seems to have to leave in a hurry. Over the years she notices changes in him, but can't quite put a finger on it because they still don't spend a lot of time together. Ken loves Yumin. Everything he ever does is for her. He is completely devoted to her.

This manga is amazing for the majority of the series, then for some reason the author decides to shit on his work for no reason and add some abomination of an ending that is honestly making a strong case for worst ending to a series I've ever seen. I'm conflicted writing this review because so much of this series I've been following for the last 7ish years was really entertaining but maybe because he wanted to tie this series into his other work, or maybe he wanted to add some poorly thought out moral to the ending? but that ending wasn't just bad but actively frustrating because if he had done basically anything else to end the series it would've been fine, but he throws in some bullshit plot-twist with no backing in the story before it, and then doesn't even commit to his twist and undoes a major change in 3 chapters while shitting over the character development of over 90% of the series the entire time.

The story is amazing, the art is amazing and all the characters are so quirky and likeable. It's a shame if this doesn't become an anime but it might be too explicit for some! You can tell that the author tries his best with the work because the amount of research he put into Korea is staggering. He researched cuisine, places, traditions...Just to make the manga more enjoyable to read. Ken, the main character, is an awesome character. Dumb, Happy-go-lucky but badass, he knows when it's time to get serious and when it does, he dishes out punishment like no other. It's not all serious though, it feels light hearted even though it is so "mature". This is due to the super-deformed art style that is used during more unserious moments. I laughed more than a few times while reading this and trust me; you will too. Sun-Ken Rock is one of the better mangas I have read and it's certainly worth your time!
